Error Broadcast re-issued Stunt (Appendix) just recently. Here Giuseppe Ielasi delivers a highly unique take on beat music. After a hiatus of three years Inventing Masks is a new moniker the producer uses to publish his self-titled debut LP.
‘Inventing Masks’ comprises six concentric but slightly out-of-balance sound sculptures, equally inspired from generative composition, ambient music, and hip hop.

“Inventing Masks can stand alongside some of the greatest loop-based records of the sampledelic era. It’s not quite funky, but it is most certainly freaky, and as The Beastie Boys identified, the latter is where the real action is”
- The WIRE

<![CDATA[Giuseppe Ielasi does his own Stunts]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Giuseppe+Ielasi+does+his+own+Stunts/id/201

Giuseppe Ielasi is an Italian guitar player with a long-ranging history in improvised music. In 2008, he released the first installation of his ‘Stunt’ series, with sequels in 2009 (‘(Another) Stunt’) and 2010 (‘(Third) Stunt’). The concept of improvised and processed guitar was extended towards a more rhythmic approach, enhancing Ielasi’s research on form and texture with a raw and unhewn twist.
In 2013 Holiday Records released ‘Stunt (Appendix)’ in form of a 3 x 7” boxset. Inspired by turntableism Giuseppe Ielasi exclusively used vinyl records to generate, in his own words, “fragmented dance cadences”. Listeners might cite Jan Jelinek or Institute für Feinmotorik as reference. Unfortunately, the record never saw a digital release but in 2015, just ahead of a brand new LP on Error Broadcast, we are happy to re-publish ‘Stunt (Appendix)’ in digital form. “A soulful jam for slippery dancefloors".

<![CDATA[Infected geometries from the "IOR"]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Infected+geometries+from+the+%22IOR%22/id/200

C L N K is Silviu Badea (aka Montgomery Clunk) of Bucharest, Romania. The elusive producer debuted in 2014 with the full- ength Black Ecstasy, soon followed by a 5-track EP, Anti. Both these records feature erratic and brittle bat-cave techno. For his latest work, C L N K sticks with the nihilistic undertone but revives influences from downtempo, hip hop, and ambient. "A brilliant record from the Bucharest beat-maker who continues to defy expectation” (Bleep.com).

IOR is now available all digital and on 180g 12" vinyl in full-color sleeve on sale at our webstoreFor more info and purchase options visit error-broadcast.com.

<![CDATA[Footwork impressionism from SELA.]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Footwork+impressionism+from+SELA./id/199

is 21-years old Devante Tillis from California. The enigmatic producer operates in the aural wastelands somewhere between cloudrap, leftfield R&B, and a loose approach to footwork. He did beats for Kitty, Main Attrakionz, and Japanese songstress Noah. Furthermore, he caught the eye of tastemakers from Ryan Hemsworth to allmighty A$AP Mob. His Bandcamp account bursts with numerous smaller and bigger releases. Needless to say, the man is on a mission.

The EP first is SELA.’s vinyl debut. Tillis refines his formula and delivers six tracks that oscillate from longing melancholia and claustrophobic unrest. first is heavy on surface noise and subdued, seemingly random vocal samples that leave you with twisted attraction; piano loops and sparse guitar licks give rise to sparkles of occasional light. Fans of Shabazz Palaces or Spooky Black might find common ground here.

It's been a second since we issued the 2nd release of Romanian techno gravedigger C L N K. Head this way to stream 'ANTI' via FADER mag or download from our store directly. If you're undecided grap 'Fuck Hype' from XLR8R first.

In more recent news, make sure not to miss Taprikk Sweezee's remix of 'CPR' (whose artwork can be seen above). C L N K followed the invite of Big Up mag and compiled an exclusive podcast of all-exclusive material. Quite a corker.

<![CDATA[2013: Our Year in Review & Family Charts]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/2013%3A+Our+Year+in+Review+%26+Family+Charts/id/193

This year was rich of experience. With Soosh's beautiful 'Colour is Breathe' we had our first real album release, including quite a bit of music industry buzz. This 2LP was followed by a sweet remix 12" featuring Slugabed, Dam Mantle, The Cyclist, Synkro and more. After the Summer break we issued the debut EP by Lithuanian wunderkind 96wrld, 'Private Language' and towards the end of the year we switched back to album mode with 'Black Ecstasy' by good ole' Montgomery Clunk aka C L N K. A release we are proud of in particular because we charted into new territories, musically speaking.
Besides the 'big' releases we were delighted to present a free-for-download EP by B-Ju ('Cheap Shots'). Furthermore, a long-overdue project finally saw the light of day: we selected and arranged a couple of joints we had left from NYC producer Benny B. Blonco and released the unauthorized 'Random Knocks' tape. Don't sleep on this essential document of the school-of-2009 beat music.

These guys made our year. We asked them their top-5 releases, and included the favourites of UK producer Iglooghost who's set to publish his 'Treetunnels' tape with us in January and H-SIK, who will surely return to Error Broadcast in 2014.[break] Enjoy the read, and see you next year!

<![CDATA[Montgomery Clunk returns as C L N K]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Montgomery+Clunk+returns+as+C+L+N+K/id/191

is the latest musical incarnation of Silviu Badea a.k.a. Montgomery Clunk. Error Broadcast published two EPs with the enigmatic Romanian producer but following the release of ‘Mondegreen’ early in 2012 Badea went through a series of changes. We lost touch for a bit. Then, late in 2012, he re-appeared and out of the vacuum of his temporary exile Badea presented the full-length album you are about to witness as Black Ecstasy.
C L N K explores the bat caves of techno. Primordial music for the jilted generation, Black Ecstasy leans towards a variation of techno that directly stems from post punk and its electronic successors.

Black Ecstasy is now available all digital and on 180g 12" vinyl in full-color sleeve on sale at Boomkat, HHV, Juno and on our webstore. For more info and purchase options visit error-broadcast.com/ebc024

<![CDATA[96wrld Remix Contest #pvtrmx]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/96wrld+Remix+Contest+%23pvtrmx/id/190

Some tunes ask for a remix. Typically this is true for vocal music, and this is probably why Error Broadcast never organized a remix contest. Private Language by Lithuanian rising producer 96wrld is not an immediate candidate for a remix LP. However the title track showcases the beautiful vocals of Markas Palubenka and should be a perfect fit for adventurous re-interpretations. We want to hear your version of the "Private Language".

Upload your remix to stream on your Soundcloud and use the tag #pvtrmx to share it on facebook and twitter. Monday, January 6 we will pick three favourites. There's only a single rule you need to follow if you want to contribute to the contest: your remix needs to include the vocal stems/samples.

Remixes will be published as a digital EP accompanied by two new 96wrld originals and distributed worldwide by Alpha Pup. Furthermore, winners will be shipped with Error Broadcast vinyl packages including five records of individual choice. Lezzz go!

<![CDATA[Music from the Dark Corners of the Earth]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Music+from+the+Dark+Corners+of+the+Earth/id/189

Two weeks ago we revealed the new identity of Silviu Badea, the young producer behind the Montgomery Clunk project. Adopting the C L N K moniker, Badea dives into nitty-gritty techno music that sets the pace for the exclusive Dark Corners of the World mixtape; an all-exclusive compilation of unreleased C L N K tracks, plus contributions of friends from Bucharest. We sat down with Silviu to discover what's behind his latest metamorphosis.

Can you elaborate on your transition from Montgomery Clunk to C L N K? Would you describe your latest productions as a complete break-up with what you have done before?
I make music for myself exclusively. It has always been like that and besides I have no rules. My music is like a diary, each release reflecting a certain period in my life. This includes influences from the music I like, from the city, from my family and my dear ones. The focus shifts all the time. Aesthetically my music is subject to permutation as well. I think I am unable to deliver two releases that feed of each other in any obvious way[break]. That have a “trademark” sound or whatever. From a marketing point-of-view this might be a disadvantage, but I guess you know so better than me?
Conceptually the different projects I’m involved in are not related. I plan ahead what I want to do and when the time is right I just do it. There could be immediately two more albums that are very different from the ones that I have released already. Music is an intimate thing to me… I don’t want to grow old in the rat race sharing all my music with the world. Not that I would make a living out of music... But some of it will remain for my ears only. Coming back to the diary comparison- you don’t want to share all the pages with anyone.

Tell us about influences.
Influences vary a lot, which is why I can’t stay in a single place. I am lucky to be able to enjoy various types of music. To be honest, lately I didn’t have the time to listen to a lot of new music. Kept it to a few albums on repeat. No techno really. Stuff like Tim Hecker, Autechre... I don't think it really matters. After all.

While 'Mondegreen' sounded futuristic at times, 'Black Ecstasy' has that primordial, messed-up feel to it. Did you switch gear for the production?
Gear... oh yeah, I have a lot of gear and I switch it all the time, haha. Yeah, you could say I changed gear but basically it is the same stuff, just produced differently, toggled different buttons. I try to make the best of what I have. There is also equipment that me and friends discover and share, each of us his own way.

You used to produce some pitch-black ambient/ noise things in the past with side projects Contorsionist and Fjord. Obviously 'Black Ecstasy' has abysmal potential, too. Do you follow wants happening at the borders of experimental metal and textural electronic music?
Contorsionist is alive and kicking. Marius Costache (the guy that did that filmed interview that was on your site) invited me to record some of the stuff through a stack of amps. So Iwent there and I got blown away. Like, literally. Fjord is also alive; I am one half of Fjord. The other guy is Alex (the guy that mastered Superbus). We also have some tracks to be released sometime soon.
Black Ecstasy has been written in difficult times with a lot of limitations. Thing is that it has been ready for almost one year now. I couldn't get myself together to do the final touches because it kept bashing me into bad mood. Confusing and fuzzy times. As I said before, I listen to different sorts of music, metal and ambient and shit. I can’t say I have been keeping up with the any scene... Many of the stuff I listen to is five or ten years old. To me it is basically irrelevant where blogs and magazines and trends go. I believe that if you do what you love, luck will find you. The guys in the caves looking for talent will find us, you can call them vampires.

Is there a certain scene or community of like-minded producers you feel akin with? The mixtape you crafted credits an all-exclusive, all-Romanian playlist. Listening to it if feels the World is sleeping on Bucharest.
Yes. Basically everything in this mix is made by a bunch of guys from Bucharest. For the past five years we grew together musically… and mentally, to an extent. I don’t want to call it a scene, we just make music. Also, we don’t want to make a big fuzz out of it, just release music and only speak when it is time to speak. We are about to start a website and will releases music and graphics and stuff.
Bucharest, or Romania, is not on a map, in any particular way. It is not our goal to put it on the map. We just want to release stuff without a text the size of medicinal instructions. We are not coherent. We are individuals.

Black Ecstasy will be released on 12" vinyl with full artwork on December 2nd. Watch this place!

<![CDATA[The School of Random Knocks]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/The+School+of+Random+Knocks/id/188

Some guys never made it. We had big hope for this one in particular, big plans, back in 2008. Benny B. Blonco, legendary Myspace producer, one of the first with Mr. Dibiase and Elaquent to flip 8bit samples and turn them into hard-knocking hip hop instrumentals. Beatscene wunderkind. In 2010, the lad disapeared without a trace and all he left behind was a single tune and a remix he conducted for German producer B-Ju.

Fast forward three years later cats still want to know about Benny. Truth is: we have no idea where he’s gone or what he’s up to. But we kept his beats safe. And eventually decided to share his music with the world.
Random Knocks is a selection of Benny’s finest beats and tracks, the unauthorized legacy of a ghost producer, carefully refurbished and cut to fit. The tape is available on free download so please spread the word...and maybe Benny gets to know about it as well, somewhere, somehow.

Our new release comes from an old friend, Montgomery Clunk. However his full-length album 'Black Ecstasy' runs under a different moniker. Silviu adopted the name C L N K as his new music explores the bat caves of techno.
You can stream the first single 'July Tense' which premiered on Dummy below, and download the unreleased Montgomery Clunk tune 'Hooded' from You'll Soon Know.

"July Tense leaves a not unwelcome metallic tang in the mouth. For all the dense texture and dexterous handling of scale, it is the naive keyboard melody that floats in and out that provides the perfect counterpoint to the deathly chaos that swims below."

Black Ecstasy will be available December 2 on 180 g heavy-weight vinyl in full-colour sleeves.

We signed him right away and we're excited to finally share with the world his debut EP 'Private Language' that will see the light September 23rd on 12" vinyl and digital. A collection of eight tunes that showcase 96wrld's potential as a producer and songwriter that embraces different composition styles, typically in a single tune.
His arrangements are complex and give away all detail only on repeated listen. However, tracks like Bruce Willis can put any club to pieces easily...test yourself.

After the official release of Colour is Breathe, Soosh has been busy promoting his debut album. Two things we don't want you to miss are the exclusive mixtape he recorded for DUMMY magazine with an eclectic and exciting selection of contemporary electronic music. Furthermore, don't forget to check the official music video for 'Uncertain' directed by Simeon Cristallin and as premiered over at The Line of Best Fit. Check his answers in the interview revealing an exciting project coming out end of April... We can't wait to share with you.

To celebrate 10k followers on Soundcloud Soosh uploaded a bootleg remix of
Dahlia Black Gang's anthem Fuck a Rap Song, "keeping the sinister elements that run through the original track, whilst weaving in more ambient and muted textures, making for a rather jarring mixture of sounds" (Crack in the Road).

It's finally here! Soosh debut album 'Colour is breathe' is out now, a collection of 11 tracks of textural ambience and humanised beats, a sea of woozy analogue synths, drum machines and textural field recordings. The artists’ younger sister, contributes vocals that brim with longing and love, gracing the record with an allure that makes it somewhat indefinable for either genre or gender.

"With intimate, Massive Attack-esque vocals, the cuts blossom into ethereal, dizzying soundscapes that hit with a cold wave of chill."

"Gorgeous tracks, i think im in love with them" - HAPPA

"This album encloses the listener like a film of abstraction between them and the outside world, slowing things down for a moment." - BLACK PLASTIC

"Album sounds amazing" - MMOTHS

"All awash with lush crystalline chords, slow tub thumping broken hip hop drum patterns, roughly captured vocal lines and this general down trodden emotion" - SONIC ROUTER

further support from fLako / T.I.P. / Dam Mantle / Dark Sky

Double LP vinyl is now available on sale at Boomkat, HHV, Juno, Rush Hour, Jet Set and on our webstore for just 16€ including worldwide shipping and digital download. For more info and purchase options visit the release page.

<![CDATA[SOOSH announces debut album]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/SOOSH+announces+debut+album/id/177

We are extremely happy to announce our first full album release. We teamed with UK beatmaker
Soosh who appeared on Error Broadcast for his big remix on Shlohmo's 'Couch' in December 2011.

Soosh is the recording name of Soroosh Khavari, an electronic music producer born in Iran and raised in Scotland. After EP appearances on numerous labels, the artists' debut long player 'Colour is Breathe' explores the folds that fuse textural ambience and humanised beats, whilst adding a euphoric pop-twist.
Sooshs' trademark low-swung hip hop beats and organic instrumentation is countered and enhanced by moments of dreamy and endearing delicacy. 'Colour is Breathe' is both intricate and intimate; its wispy notes and pastel melodies at times make the album a headphone affair. Equally, however, these are songs to be shared on discerning dance floors as slow, organic dance music.

For an idea of what 'Colour Is Breathe' will sound like, you can stream the digital bonus track 'Touched' below. PRE-ORDER available from our store for 16€ including worldwide postage!

<![CDATA[2012 Family Charts]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/2012+Family+Charts/id/176

December is all about best-of lists. With a busy 2012 behind us, we are happy to see a few of our folks shining. Influential XLR8R published their Top-100 downloads, and we were stunned to find 'Mia Got A New Haircut' by B-Ju ranking #11 (!). Furthermore, OLs' 'IWM' can be found at #46.
H-SIK was our new signing in 2012. The more we are happy his 'Cocody' EP shows up in two important lists. First, The Needle Drop voted the record into their Top-15 EPs. Second, Plant Mu's Gavin wisely listed 'Cocody' in the Top-10 releases. Expect more from the man in 2013...
Ryan Hemsworth had countless remixes out in 2012. Thus we are flattered heavyweight CBC Music voted his fix on Monolithiums' 'Bounce 4 Life' in their Top-5 Hemsworth remixes.

...and speaking about end-of-year charts we asked artists we worked with in 2012 to put down their top 5. Take note[break]!

We are delighted to welcome Monolithium back on Error Broadcast. His second 12" EP ‘Bounce 4 Life’ finds the Victoria based producer offering the perfect mixture of club-ready footwork snare rolls and low swung hip hop, a glossy get-together of pitched vocals and super-melodic synth chords. Remixes include fellow Canadian Ryan Hemsworth, UK producer KingThing, and our own H-SIK.

"Anyone with eyes on the Canadian contingent (...) should’ve heard whispers of the name Monolithium for a while now." – Sonic Router

"While most artists who borrow from Chicago’s footwork tradition offer a watered down version of the original music, Monolithium’s heavily melodic take is malleable enough to avoid being a simple derivative." – Truants

<![CDATA[Bounce 4 Life 4 Free]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Bounce+4+Life+4+Free/id/174

Monolithium released his debut 12“ Simon & G-Funk in Summer 2011. Back then, his mixture of 808 drummings, complex track arrangement and flawless pop was an important step for Error Bradcast to advance from the beat music continuum and found its logical extrapolation with releases by B-Ju, H-SIK, and OL most recently.

Today we are excited to share the title track of Monolithium's 2nd release, Bounce 4 Life, the single that was on constant repeat in the office the whole Summer through. We can't wait for this to drop on December 10, but in the meantime you can download the big bad tune and discover full tracklist and teaser on XLR8R.

Russia proved to be excellent breeding ground for electronic music in recent years. Central figures of the beat scene publish on well-respected, international record labels, and the Fly Russia movement has been written-up in the most important music blogs and magazines.

For his new EP Body Varial, Moscow ambassador OL is embracing both Footwork tempi, the production aesthetics of Trap, and the fathomless echo chambers of Dub. Body Varial is as dark and dangerously brilliant as black snake skin. Its glossy textures flow elegantly though OL messes with pitch and complex percussion quite a bit.
The warmth of former production has been replaced by cross-synced synth patches and adventurous harmonic compositions. Body Varial combines sex with musical sophistication, offers common ground for bass nerds and dance folk. An immense record.

<![CDATA[Stumblebum Motivation Mixtape]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Stumblebum+Motivation+Mixtape/id/169

ages is young Michael Lundy of Orange County, California. We first got into his music when he released the 'failures' EP on bandcamp. In 2012, ages debuted with the full-length 'Bryan' for LAs' Alpha Pup.
Lundy blends ambient and obscure pop music with leftfield hip hop beats and spacious synth textures; a mixture you can find with his tape 'Stumblebum Motivation' as well.

And its quite a trip. Starting with an unreleased ages remix of Motion Sickness of Time Travel, Lundy drops the exclusive ages vs. Citymouth collaboration 'Michael Bownzon' for maximum effect. He carefully tunes the atmosphere towards washed-out and reverb-laden and sun-dried pop, culminating in the fake-80s synth gloss of Contact Lenses. From here, Lundy moves deeper into dance terrain. Intriguing to hear how well 90s R&B, acid house, juke, and trap go together.
Dreams mixes perfectly with devonwho, and Lundy sails into downtempo waters again. We get to hear another two exclusives (ahnnu and ages) before Broken Social Scenes' 'Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl' perfectly sets stages for the unreleased 'Edie Drone' y matthewdavid.

<![CDATA[Cocody out NOW]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Cocody+out+NOW/id/168

Our new release comes from African producer H-SIK who delivers a refreshing take on footwork with his debut EP Cocody. With time spent in Southern France and the Netherlands, Hervé Sika combines influences from West African folklore, French Rap, and Amsterdams’ multi-ethnic approach to electronic music.

Each track seems to be exploring something different, and the producer’s distance from the epicenters of each scene no doubt allows him to take liberties with the sound others might see as being out of order. It works for him, and ‘Cocody’ is an unusual take on the music – it still hits hard, but there’s a lilt to H-Sik’s production that puts it in a realm of its own - Boomkat

The good folks at XLR8R revealed the cover art for 'Cocody' and feature 'oOo rD Eye', a track taken from H-SIKs' upcoming EP. You can download it from here.

"H-SIK warps synth chords and quick arpeggios over fast moving rhythms touched in equal parts by elements of Chicago juke and his African background."

We got together with an old friend for the trailer video you can watch above. We worked with French designer 96 a few times in the past and are happy to be back cooperating. Crew looove!

<![CDATA[H-SIK debuts with SHTRAK LOVE mixtape]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/H-SIK+debuts+with+SHTRAK+LOVE+mixtape/id/165

We are excited to welcome a new member to the Error Broadcast collective – please meet H-SIK. We sat down with the Amsterdam-based producer for a brief interview which you can read below. Moreover, H-SIK put together a tape for us that is not only brilliantly mixed but showcases the influences he draws from as a producer as well. If you have a knack for juke, electronic music, instrumental hip hop, and the whole continuum in between we insistently recommend to get down with H-SIK on 30 minutes of intense ‘SHTRAK LOVE’.

Can you give us a short introduction to who you are and where you're from?
My name is Hervé Sika aka H-SIK. Originally I am from the Ivory Coast. By the age of seven I was introduced to the cold European weather when my family moved to a small town near Lyon, France. After short spells in the South of France, I set up home in Amsterdam and have been here for the last seven years.

Do you feel part of a certain scene or surrounding of like-minded producer? Benelux countries like Belgium or the Netherlands saw a stunning range of fresh producers recently. Think of Krampfhaft, Anti-G, Jameszoo, Torus, Cupp Cave, Dynooo…
Yes, the music I listen to and the performances I attend in Holland these days definitely have an impact on me, and it shows in the music I am producing. Viral Radio, for example, is currently bringing a new air of openness and accessibility to the Dutch music scene. They help producers, artists, and event organizers with similar passions and interests to meet and listen to each other. Viral Radio provides a creative and friendly surrounding where people can greatly benefit from each other. Of course this has an impact on the music.

C_DR_C and H-SIK at Viral Radio

You are associated with Shtrak, can you tell us about it?
"Shtrak" is a common slang word in South France, meaning crazy, wicked. For us, Shtrak means to make the best out of an unexpected situation. When I moved to the Netherlands I met C_DR_C and E.A.R.L and we decided to fund a collective that helps us to promote what we love: art and music. Moresounds is in the gang, too.

Your sound is very eclectic, it seems you can do zero bpm as well as 90 and 140. A certain nervousness on the snares however is characteristic to most of your productions. Can you elaborate on musical influences?
I asked myself this question a lot recently… As mentioned above, my beats are influenced by the experiences I have, and I channel this into my music. It’s like a sensation. I don't like to put my sounds into a box or label it and this is why I experiment with such a broad range of tempi and styles. I was also listening to some of my families’ music from the Ivory Coast some weeks ago and it struck me - wow this is so up-tempo and fast, even abstract, this also must be an influence on me!

That’s interesting, what kind of music is this?
It's a traditional band called TP Audio Rama, from the region I was born, Agneby.

You crafted a percussive and dense mix for us. What is your motivation as a DJ?
I want to do something that people can’t expect. Do something people can’t easily label, box, and forget about. I also think my DJ sets are different to my productions, again, showing the range of my musical passions rather than sticking to a certain bpm signature. Currently I love juke music and its maniac energy so maybe dancing shoes will be necessary, who knows – you better be prepared!

<![CDATA[ Bigger Than Eight Steps to Mathematics]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/+Bigger+Than+Eight+Steps+to+Mathematics/id/164

While forward-thinking beat makers typically aim for unheard and 'next level' instrumentals the use of Rap and R&B vocals never went out of fashion. In 2012, bootleg culture is alive and kicking.
We publish this tiny collection of bootlegs by six EB-affiliated producers as a free give-away to celebrate 3.000 'Likes' on our facebook. Irrespective of the latest spasms in 'Bass Music' it serves as a reminder from where we draw our main motivation and elegantly reflects the label motto: Basically it's Hip Hop.

2. 8Ball - Stop Playing Games (B-Ju Remix)
3. Dead Prez - It's Bigger Than (Swede:art Remix)
4. Mos Def - Mathematics (Montgomery Clunk Remix)
5. Missy Elliott - Loose Control (Recontrolled by DZA)

<![CDATA[The fictitious world of Montgomery Clunk]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/The+fictitious+world+of+Montgomery+Clunk/id/162
A couple of months ago we announced a new Montgomery Clunk's ep in 2012. The time has come and today we unveil the artwork of the Mondegreen EP which has been once again drawn by Paul Paun, the young artist behind the twisted cover of Monty's previous work, Superbus.
We sat down with both Silviu and Paul to discover what's behind these fascinating characters and their connection with the music.

Hi Paul, Silviu, please give us a brief introduction to who you are and what you do.

Paul: Ey I'm Paul 20 years old, I live in Bucharest, Romania and I am currently studying graphic design at the National Arts Academy. I've been drawing since I can remember.
I consider myself one of those really lucky people that can go through life doing exactly what they love for a living. I like the slack and the lack of responsabilities that come with an artist's life yet this is changing now since I'm going into graphic design and the sort. I'm creeping up on 3D art and animation, dreaming on doing something massive and impressive, hope my delusions of grandeur help me achieve this.
Silviu: Hey, I'm 23... I'm Silviu. I'm mostly interested in various forms of sound.
Sometimes I go out with my friends. Got dreams, too. I also play videogames and all that[break].

'Superbus', the EP Silviu released in 2010, featured three back-street characters. Irrespective of Paul comic-inspired style the composition is very Baroque and seems to imply a deeper connection between these Gs. Can you elaborate?
P: It is not complicated, we're sharing a vision and then we look in the mirror and spit it out in our own way. It is part of a greater thing, a whole universe... This art and music could be considered a barebone for what's about to come.
A more focused answer would be these guys are all part of a suspicious gang. You can see they are human; they got weird heads as a symbol of what they really are. No one wears masks in this town... Here, everything is what you see, nothing more, nothing less. Can't say more about that... would ruin everything.

Do you work together? Do you share a concept before Paul does the work?
S: Yes we do work together. We are sharing basic concepts, basic sounds, basic structures of sound and graphics- and then we just do it. We don't step on our turfs, though... I mean we just seem to work best with the early concepts, simple ideas etc... It is simple that way, we don't go back too much after something has been done.
I guess we are lucky. It is just workflow... The result is what makes us both happy. Of course, we need sync, like everyone else. Comes, goes, but I know I can count on this workflow and it can only get better, never worse. Of course I'm full of shit, you never know. At this point it's all good and shiny, we got plans :)

                                                                                                 Silviu Badea aka Montgomery Clunk

Today we reveal the cover art on the new Montgomery Clunk 12'' Mondegreen. Again, it comes with a character. We see some kind of ghost with an arrow in his chest. What’s up with him?
P: It started with a really really small sketch I was doodling while procrastinating. Characters is what I like to draw the most and this one is pretty much inspired by the vibe of the songs Silviu sends me. I don't want to say what the character is because I never thought about this. I was just thinking about a pose and some kind of action that would look catchy like stepping in gum, something that happened to all of us cityfolks and we can relate to.
I also heard that people can draw things related to real life experiences they happen to go through, probably the subconcious, so maybe that arrow means something to me but I’m not sure.

S: Well he basically said it all. I was working on this 12", I had my share of concept inside my head so I went to Paul and asked for a cover... That would be a follow-up to 'Superbus', spiritually. I sent some stuff, shared my part of the concept and he gave visual life to it. This is how this character is supposed to look.
Of course theres meaning to it if we look at it, I could give an example, but... He could be everyone's 'hero'... As Paul said, I guess it's what got us together in the first place... How he put it: we like things that happen to all of us like stepping into a chewing gum... He was actually gonna avoid it but then he got an arrow in his chest :)

Is there a connection between both the cover for 'Superbus' and 'Mondegreen', something like a story or a concept?
P: The only connection is that they both picture the same fictitious universe, set in the neighborhood we both live in, Dristor.
S: There's a spiritual connection at this point. We're waiting to see where this will take us. Hope it leads to the light.

                                                                                                                                   Mr. Paul Paun

Finally, for a decent bit of tech-talk, can you comment on your drawing technique Paul?
P: I have a traditional style of drawing. Thanks to my former mentors I owe them a lot for passing me valuable lessons and theories in regard to lighting, poses, color, composition, anatomy etc. For digital works I start by sketching on paper (usually very small, this way I can have more control on scaling shapes) then I scan it to Photoshop or Illustrator, cut out the sketch I’m most pleased with, mirror it or flip it upside down to check if it looks solid and proceed to the drawing bit.
Its very important to keep things separated onto layers to minimize the fuck-ups. For example I start with the black lines then add color on a different layer.
I usually end up with +20 layers... I have to name them: lines, colors, shadows, details... but I forget to do this most of the time :) I’m very eager to upgrade my PC and take my art to the next level.

Thanks for the elaboration guys! Excited to work with you.

While working on new material for his forthcoming 12" EP 'Body Varial' on Error Broadcast OL has been busy djing with his partner-in-crime Lapti, so we asked a contribution to our mixtape series to check what's going on in the club scene of Moscow.

Arabic Gum is the perfect reflection of what's contemporary and fresh in the beat sphere: from the Lex Luger bassocentric hip-hop of Tyga to the hyper dance-music of Sinjin Hawke passing through Juke (Distal & Rashad) and Techno (Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka, Nah Like). By tuning in you'll experience 30 minutes of pure dopeness for the dancefloor, a major system-upgrade from one of the finest digger. Sit tight and get ready to dance.

Hello and welcome in the Year of the Dragon! We have a new release, and it comes from an old friend. Bucharest-based label Asiluum visited Montgomery Clunk in Dristor district to shoot a documentary about the man behind the project, Silviu Badea, one of the most promising names of the new-school sound of Romania.
They also asked him to play some of the new tracks that will be out on the Mondegreen EP we announced last month so you better activate subtitles and listen closely...

Furthermore the godfather of Romanian electronic scene, Cosmin TRG, played a Montgomery Clunk's tune on his mix for Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Show recognising him, again, as one of the name to follow in 2012. Can't agree more!

<![CDATA[B-Ju: from Dog Day to Prozac People]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/B-Ju%3A+from+Dog+Day+to+Prozac+People/id/156

B-Ju is quite a special artist for EB as our very first vinyl release was with him. Exciting times, back then. The more we are happy to announce the release of his new EP Prozac People (digital/vinyl) for the 23th of January, 2012.
To celebrate we decided to put his Dog Day EP from 2010 online for free download, running from NOW until the 16th of January. It includes five original tunes plus remixes by 1000names, Herrmutt Lobby, Mux Mool, and ghost dog Benny B. Blonco.

Furthermore we sat down with the kid to talk about his future projects[break]:

Since the release of 'My Sneakers' in June 2010 it’s been a bit quiet on your side. But just recently you made quite some noise with a new single, mixtapes, a b-sides collections and the remix EP 'Rapes'. What happened? Is B-Ju back?
I actually never stopped doing music! I had some releases after 'My Sneakers' like 'Babbel Net' (Dirty Bird) but I quit my shitty day job, so I had more time doing music lately.

Listening to your remix EP 'Rapes' (available for free download) it doesn’t sound much like the B-Ju one might remember from 'Philly Run' or 'Dog Day'. Can you tell us a bit of your influences and the direction your music takes?
I finished the Dog Day EP in 2009 so I think it should it is no surpise my sound changed ever since then. Even if making non-club music feels more natural to me, I was definitely influenced by uptempo music in the last two years.
It might sound strange but I found more of the Hip Hop music that brought me to Error Broadcast in House and UK Bass than in what is classified as 'beat music'.

Haha, maybe that's true. Would you please comment on what ahead for 2012? Besides the 12" EP 'Prozac People' you have scheduled for us, any other releases in cue?
I'm going to release an EP on No Brainer and another EP on Squelch & Clap in early 2012. Besides that I want to finish my first full length album.

artwork by Nate James

2011 was the year that 'Post-Dilla' thing came to a halt eventually. Do you follow the beat scene, instrumental Hip Hop, or Rap music in general? What is your personal idea of the 'Boom Bap continuum', or should one say: Bass music continuum?
I never understood why people use that term 'Post-Dilla' because in the last five or six years I haven't heard any music that got even close to Dillas'.
Neither musically nor in terms of technique. The whole so called 'beat movement' kinda reminds me of the Turntablism scene around 2002 - 2004 when everybody thought he would belong to some sort of elitist circle. It ended up in boring geek shit that sounded all the same and that nobody cared about.
I wish people would focus on making music they actually love instead of trying to sound like 'Post insert-your-genre-here'.

As the year is on its last legs what five albums or artist made your 2011? On whom do you recommend to have an eye on?
I really enjoyed the latest releases of Kidnap Kid, Visionist, Lapti, Nocow, Monolithium, Julio Bashmore, B. Lewis, ASAP Rocky, French Fries, Throwing Snow and Taprikk Sweezee. Also loved 2562s' 'Fever' and 'Isla Dub' by Matthias Zimmermann.
Breach has a release upcoming on Dirtybird which is a monster. Always trying to follow the music by Montgomery Clunk and definitely keep an eye on 123Mrk. His shit is absolutely ridiculous. But please take my advice and don't play poker with him. He will fuck you up.

<![CDATA[Shlo-fi reissue out NOW]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Shlo-fi+reissue+out+NOW/id/154

What people have constantly been asking for finally becomes reality...
We re-issue the mini album Shlo-fi by Bay Area beat conductor Shlohmo. The tape dropped late in 2009 can be seen as breeding ground for the more subtle aspects in the work of young Laufer who recently earned massive praise with his left-field masterpiece ‘Bad Vibes’.

Shlo-fi was carefully re-mastered for the 2011 edit. The 12” version (300 copies) features original track listing and artwork and comes with full-colour sleeves and labels. The digital and 2x 12” version includes remixes by Anenon, S.Maharba, and Wanda Group (former Dem Hunger) as well as newcomers Soosh and Jameszoo.

We are proud to announce the vinyl re-release of Shlo-fi, Shlohmo's mini album from 2009. You can pre-order the standard and deluxe double-LP (limited to 100 200 copies) from our shopHHV or Insound. Vinyl will ship December 5.

had the news yesterday and posted up a remix of Couch by Scottish beatmaker Soosh.

The tunesmith's first 'mini-album', Shlo-Fi, first appeared back then, courtesy of the forward-thinking Error Broadcast label, and is now being treated to a re-release on 12" vinyl, as well as a limited-edition double-LP version that features Shlohmo's nine original productions along with four remixes by Anenon, Soosh, S.Maharba and Jameszoo (Wanda Group aka Dem Hunger in the digital package). This downtrodden version of "Couch" by Glaswegian beatmaker Soosh is among those new versions, and perfectly exhibits the kind of brooding, fuzzy electronics Shlo-Fi boasts as a whole.

<![CDATA[Blurred vibes]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Blurred+vibes/id/146

Maguett aka Dmitrii Drozdov started his carrier in music with razor-sharp and nihilistic IDM on a number of Russian netlabels. When he had his track ‘Fog Movement’ on our first release Bag of Nothingness Dima had moved towards a more beat scene-oriented sound already. Maguett has never been at the very core of the Fly Russia movement, but his contribution ‘Orange Flame’ to the compilation of the same name added a dark shade that is important for the full picture.
Thus it is no wonder G5 Music has eventually put its hands on Maguett and published his first proper releases in a long while. Make sure not to miss out on Twilight.

Maguetts' mixtape Blurred plays the cards pretty smooth. He sews soulful vocals into ambient textures, plays with different time codes and atmospheres and switches elegantly from lo-fi VHS sounds to ultradeep Dub spheres. By times sugarsweet, then again intractable this is not a DJ set to rock a club but an artistically challenging patchwork of contemporary Bass Music.

<![CDATA[Zansho Mixtape]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Zansho+Mixtape/id/144

Next in our in-frequent series of mixtapes is ichiro_, one Japans' top-notch beat makers. We have been working with the Nerima-based producer for remixes on 'Error Code' by AEED and DZA's sold-out cassette. He just released the debut album 'Unconsidered_' with Japanese Oilworks and published a digital EP 'Noon' earlier in June 2011.

What is true for ichiro_'s original productions can be found with 'Zansho' as well. He squeezes 23 tracks into 60 tight minutes, songs strongly enlaced and re-edited with reverb, delay, and compression.
What we get to hear is one hour of high energy beats, a mesmerizing flow of instrumental Hip Hop and electronic music, with hints of UK Bass and Japanese Rap. ichiro_ balances abrasive beats with highly textured pads; his influence from Ambient and Tape music is obvious.
Despite all the heavyness ichiro_ manages to surprise with elegant and fresh sounds every once a while, making 'Zansho' a proper must-listen.

The folks at sub|divison published two excellent downloads last week.
First, they made available all bootleg remixes that had surfaced after the release of 'Simon & G-Funk' (the 12" as pictured above). This includes works by RocCazba, Taal Mala, Kevin Eames, and Montgomery Clunk, plus the original 'Simon & G-Funk' that had been promoted by XLR8R before. Download the pack from the sub|division web.

Second, Canda's finest Prison Garde hooked up with sub|division to give away his album 'Système Hermès' for no charge. The liner notes promise, "Phasing through multiple tempos, Prison Garde is capable of taking a d-flo from low-slung funk groove all the way to a dirty, sexed-up disco grind, all with original material", which is true indeed. <![CDATA[Simon & G-Funk]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Simon+%26+G-Funk/id/135

Early in March, we had Victoria-based Monolithium up for an interview on music, his monthly sub|divison, and the Canadian bass scene in general.
The Monolithium remix of Ricardo Villalobos' Easy Lee was featured in XLR8R’s top downloads of 2011 and we were talking about his debut EP back then.
Today we are happy to have a definite release date for you: 'Simon & G-Funk' will see the neon light of your favourite beat cave not later than June 6.

To celebrate this swaggy piece of astral crunk (self-definition), we pressed 200 copies of lush white vinyl, featuring remixes by Prison Garde and LuckyMe-affiliated ANGO.

<![CDATA[Jameszoo is trippin]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Jameszoo+is+trippin/id/134

After Anenon and S.Maharba we're back with another exclusive mixtape from one of the most exciting producers of the moment, Kindred Spirits' wunderkind Jameszoo. Not much is known about the young fella except he's 19 (can you believe?) and that he is going to release a concept album around the iconic figure of Hermeto Pascoal on Amsterdam's Kindred Spirits (Dorian Concept, Jneiro Jarel, Mwëslee, ...).
We first saw the light in his eyes when the futuristic Pixelord's remix dropped on Lucid Freaks pt.2, but he's now ready to take off with his own melange of future-soul and abstract beats. Go cop his 7" to get an idea of what we're talking about…

When i'm trippin is a 23-tracks journey into Jameszoo's musical world, connecting past and present of the Nu-School beats. From Jazz to Boom Bap Hip Hop, from experimental electronica to new Bass-science.
Originality is still alive somewhere…this is the place!

<![CDATA[The Monolithic sound of Canada]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/The+Monolithic+sound+of+Canada/id/127
pic by Charlotte Dobre

For introduction, please let us who's Monolithium and where you from.

I’m a DJ/producer/promoter based out of Victoria BC, Canada. Fan of Wu-Tang Clan, Erykah Badu, Aphex Twin, Leonard Cohen, Dabrye, Godflesh, Sa-Ra, Ricardo Villalobos and J Dilla. Most people know me as Longshanks. I run the swaggest party in town, a future music monthly called sub|division (see above). I’ve been scheming on my own productions for a minute. Monolithium is the sound of years of Hip Hop obsession mixed with the future sound continuum that has blossomed over the last couple of years[break].

Sounds like you are a busy man. What is Canada like, for bass music? Is there a ‘beat scene’ or something? Any hot names on your watchlist we should be aware of?
In terms of talent, Canada is really repping right now. Lunice and Jacques Greene from Montreal are on fire this year, Stacker Upper by Lunice is just too dope. Everyone needs to peep their homie Ango as well; he has a release due on LuckyMe soon that will blow minds. Vancouver’s scene is packed with dudes who are adventuring through the Post-Dubstep landscape, Michael Red and Taal Mala especially, the whole Lighta! crew in Vancouver is top notch. Locally in Victoria, Rhythmicon & Eames are a couple of fly-as-fuck DJs; with them I run sub|division. We throw everything in the mix; beats, House, Post-Dubstep, Garage, Trap Rap, dope visuals...they are the type of parties that if I wasn’t throwing them, I would definitely be going to hear the music.

The man everyone should be watching right now is Rob Squire a.k.a. Prison Garde a.k.a. Megasoid. Prison Garde is simple, it’s basically analog synths and 808 drums. His jam I Know You’re Mine is grind-worthy smooth-ass shit, a perfect mid-set heater. A lot of the current dialog amongst the movers & shakers seems to be around bringing back a bit of sensuality to the dancefloor, which is likely a reaction against how masculine, aggressive and repetitive the heavy Dubstep sound has become. Rob really brought a sexual sensibility with his new sound and it’s inspiring how the dude can reinvent himself so fully formed. Everybody should be clocking Prison Garde... like yesterday.

Talking about influences, do you consider your Monolithium music Hip Hop? Naming the Wu, Dabrye and Dilla as formative it seems like you tend to be sympathic with the US blend of bass music rather than UKs manifold step styles...
Ironically I’m pretty geeked on much of the UK scene. Ramadanman, Dark Sky and Mount Kimbie totally hold my attention for sure. But I’ve had a MASSIVE Rap revitalization over the last year on two fronts; primarily, I’ve been revisiting much of the 90s East Coast classics that shaped me in my teens, a lot of Premier, Wu and Pete Rock. But I’ve also been wiling out to a lot of the bigger mainstream releases; Drake, Kanye, Rick Ross etc. So yeah, ostensibly I’m channelling more than 15 years of being a Hip Hop geek into my own modern take on bass music.

                                                                                                                                by Rumon Carter

Why a remix of Ricardo Villalobos? Ain’t that pretty much 2004?
Easy Lee was the first Villalobos tune I ever heard and remember immediately just being like ‘Whoa, what the fuck is this?!’. Ricardo is a guy who takes risks, he still plays vinyl and he pushes and pulls his fans, much like Autechre. To me, one of the shortcomings of the modern beat/ post-genre scene is its hyper-short attention span - the music that seems to suffer the most is the music from just a few years ago. People just have no time for something that they perceive as being ‘over’. So I loved the idea of taking a tune that really is not THAT old and twerking it with the current colour.

What made you hook up with the EB fam? What will your EP Simon and G-Funk sound like?
Definitely been feeling Pixelord and Montgomery Clunk over the last year. Man, there are some tunes from those cats that I rinse every time I play. Monty’s Heat is just THE anthem! EBs’ aesthetic and philosophy of ‘Basically it’s Hip Hop’ really struck a chord with me.
The EP? Well, it’s Hip Hop, it’s Funk and it’s bass music I guess. I bought a DX7 a while back so that is all over the EP. Simon & G-Funk is pretty sexy. All of these tunes were made with the dancefloor in mind, so that is where they will come to life. But there is a big ‘rolling in your whip’-vibe with my music as well, because I like driving and banging out loud-ass beats. It’s definitely on some head-nod shit.

Download the Monolithium re-crunk of Easy Lee.

Simon & G-Funk will be released soon on Error Broadcast.

<![CDATA[Pitchfork reviews Fish Touch]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Pitchfork+reviews+Fish+Touch/id/126

Megalomaniac Pitchfork posted a full-length review on Pixelord's 'Fish Touch' 12". Feared and admired for their critical articles we are happy to have Pixelord ending up with a quality vote of 7.3.

"The stutter of UK garage artists like El-B and the ghosted vocal samples of Burial have been explored thoroughly in the past several years, with varying degrees of success. What Devyanin brings to the table is restraint combined with an eagerness to blur the trappings of all these genres; his use of video game sounds adds a childlike sensibility that allows these songs to be at once ominous and mischievous."

"As the limits of quantized beats get continuously stretched and mutated, it's fascinating to enter the mind of a producer who doesn't hear the usual limitations and is willing to let his music travel in any number of directions."

Goes along quite well with his interview for Knowledge Magazine, too.

This week now, XLR8R Magazine posted a short heads-up on 'Fish Touch', leaking an exclusive remake of the lead single. 'Fish Touch (Tropical VIP)' "transforms the original's squelchy ragga flavors into a rolling UK bass nodder that moves the track onto the dancefloor and into 130-bpm territory", as XLR8R puts it. Make sure to grab this free download gem!

<![CDATA[AEED goes giant with FUSElab]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/AEED+goes+giant+with+FUSElab/id/121

AEED has been low-key since the release of Error Code back in July, but he's now back in style with a giant tape on the promising russian label FUSElab.
With the decade closing out the swiss beat magician collected all his unreleased beats from the 00's into a single tape named 'Titles' to share all his secret gold with everyone who followed him throught the years. It's the beginning of a new era and we're looking forward to hearing more from the man in the near future.

<![CDATA[Discovering iL]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Discovering+iL/id/117

Hailing from the vast plains of Illinois, USA, we are excited to announce a new addition to the Error Broadcast family: iL.
Not much is known about this young cat besides the record he will release with us in the beat tape series is all about love and despair. Unfortunately, in this very order.

apoLLo1ne3hree, which is the enigmatic name of his tape, consists of 16 tracks at less than 20 minutes. Irrespective of the beat tape format, iL is sketching atmospheres and ambiences rather than beats. His music is adventurous and the opposite of a comfort listen. Random like shooting stars, his beats fly into the black, not following any common metric patterns. Synthesizer textures interfere with twisted vocal samples, once sick, once bitter-sweet and heart-rendering. Dub, Hip Hop, Ambient, Soul – you know about these styles but you have not heard iLs mutant combination. Consider yourself: warned.

<![CDATA[A Fragmented Luminescence Mixtape]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/A+Fragmented+Luminescence+Mixtape/id/116

Anenon is Brian Allen Simon, musician and founder of Non Projects, a forward-thinking music label based out of Los Angeles. The young label's roster includes the likes of Asura, Ana Caravelle, a.d.l.r., and Anenon himself.
A lifetime resident of LA, Brian is fully interested in the ever changing intersection of heart and ability in the fields of music and sound as you can clearly hear from this mix for Error Broadcast.
Neighbours make their appearance (devonwho, Baths, yuk., a.d.l.r.) but there is definitely more than friends’ music on this mix. Brian digs into experimental Jazz and old school Electronica, as well as Ambient and Psychedelic Rock, condensing all elements into 25 minutes of emotive fluxus. We invite you to get lost with the final part of the mix where Brian showcases his latest experimentations in Sax intonation, texture and deep drones. Shallow and depth. Worth the trip!

<![CDATA[Superbus out NOW]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Superbus+out+NOW/id/113

Still crapulent from the recent Russia fest we are shifting our focus westwards - however, only a few 100 kilometers. Next up is Sir Montgomery Clunk, brilliant producer and bon vivant hailing from Romania's buzzing capital Bucharest.
Monty blesses us with a seven-track EP entitled Superbus that tells the story of fiction, HEAT and back-stabbers...

Musically speaking, Superbus is quite a versatile thing. There is a mesmerizing darkness to all of Monty's tracks, still he has a knack for melodies and is afraid of catchiness not a bit. Without a doubt we are facing night time music here. Describing his beats as a mixture from Hip Hop, Dubstep and Electronica might not sound exciting but once you experienced the magic craftsmanship of Montgomery Clunk you will not have a hard time to believe this album is indeed something special.

Superbus is now available on Error Broadcast, Boomkat and iTunes.

In 2009 the Italian IDA/ITF federation introduced a new experimental category dedicated to beat conductors, the Beat the Beat, which aim is scouting Italian producers and beat makers. This year Error Broadcast has been deeply involved in the selection process and today we're glad to announce the 5 participants of the contest.
The defending champ 2Phast will clash beats with JohnnyboyDigi G'alessio, A N.I.Q. Joint and Herrera. The winner will fly to the amazing Satta Outside festival next august showing Italy's finest.

We want to say a big "thank you" to all the great musicians who sent material for the selections and we invite everyone to join us November 20 at Locomotiv club in Bologna where IDA ITALY 2010 will take place along with a huge line-up of djs and performers. More info on the facebook event page.

Our Fly Russia compilation experienced massive blog coverage from the very beginning but now it's also mainstream media elaborating on the idea of a Russian beatscene. We have been interviewed for L.A. Weekly newspaper, you can read the article here.
Furthermore, here's a nice (tho cyriallian) article on Moscow's redhot RAD collective - consisting of DZA, OL, Lapti, Miracle Libido and some others that you should be familiar by now. Russia is on the rise, you don't want to deny.

For the fourth installation of our mixtape series, we are glad to welcome UK producer S.Maharba. The name is notoriously surrounded with fuzzy images of pin-up girls, however not much is known of the person behind this masquerade of 1970’s sex idols. His self titled debut was released in 2008 and turned a lot of heads worldwide, eventually being re-issued on vinyl byOcular Science.

’s tape for EB compiles the most adventurous beat music you can find to date. Dirty L.A. is featured with JujKutmahDurlin Lurt and Leaving Records boss MatthewDavidAEEDichiro_ and OL from our team make another appearance, as well as EB future wunderkind iL. UK stands tall with KatoYoung Montana? and shooting stars Forest Swords. Most tracks are condensed to the very essence, looped and blurred into each other while S.Maharba lavishly embraces everything from Progressive Rock to reverb-laden Ambient: this is what makes this mix one of the best we had in a long, long while.

You already know what it is. OLs EP "Random Phrase" is available for purchase since two weeks now, and eventually we are enabling the FREE DOWNLOAD. "Seven tracks of electrically fused and spatially rendered instrumentals, giving his rhythms dreamy ambient spaces to sluggishly do their thang", as Boomkat puts it. <![CDATA[Introducing Montgomery Clunk]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Introducing+Montgomery+Clunk/id/105

Montgomery Clunk is another youngster hailing from the Eastern parts of Europe, this time Bucharest, Romania. He embraces so many styles of electronic music it is hard to believe it makes sense eventually. However, it does. Starting from Hip Hop and Dubstep, you can find Ambient and classic Electronica as well as a neat Pop edge and a certain leaning toward progressive songwriting.
You probably never heard about him till now, but once again GIMME5 helps you discovering what's next. The exclusive "You Neon Knight" is hosted on their website and it's available for free download!

...this is just the beginning.

Back from our little Summer vacation we have our bags full of wonderful music. Firstly, make sure to mark the 13. of September as this is the day "FLY RUSSIA" will drop.
This free MP3 compilation curated by the good people at Gimme5 features the ridicolously rich Russian beatscene, Moscow in particular.
Peep our soundcloud for a preview of two exclusive tunes or consider the little article over @ 92BPM for more.

Next up then is the beat wunderkind OL with his EP Random Phrase set to be released on sept 27th. He's another key element of the Moscow beat scene with Lapti, DZA and Pixelord, partners in crime during the infamous How2make parties.
In his tracks, polyrhythmic, anfractuous beats mix with deep bass rumblings and complex atmospheric sounds. Check out the extract Minus 613 to get the idea.

Finally, please support our man PIXELORD by purchasing his split EP with Acid Mafia (digital and MC!) just released on Hyperbloid Records.

<![CDATA[Curse of DZA]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Curse+of+DZA/id/81

Fresh off the London Red Bull Music Academy Moscow-based beat elevator DZA is about to make a lot of faces fall in 2010. DZA is central to the How2make crew which ties the loose ends of bass music in Moscow, organises parties and pushes Russian talents. He is the networking type with his hands and heads in different projects at the same time.
So is the graphical identity of DZA, so is his music. Quick, dirty and raw. His 16-track beat tape Five-Finger Discount hijacks you into his kinderzimmer wherein sticker-laden efx pedals render homage to the MPC and DZA is lost behind the screen of his macbook. This tape has detailed textures and beats full of minutiae as well as the heavy bangers.

Five-Finger Discount gives you an idea what DZA is capable of.
Take cover, and don’t sleep!

<![CDATA[Swede:art - Emotional Colors LP]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Swede%3Aart+-+Emotional+Colors+LP/id/80

Alpha animal Swede:art will releases his epic full-length "Emotional Colors" via Tokyo Dawn records by the end of June. We were able to check the album and can promise: it sounds delicious!

Swede:art leaves behind the ruffness of his beat tape for a smooth and more decent style of Jazz- and Soul-influenced Hip Hop, including collaborations with Comfort Fit, Pursuit Grooves, Caits Meissner and some more. Watch out for the digital to drop 23.06.2010!!!

<![CDATA[Not far from Moscow]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Not+far+from+Moscow/id/67

As many of you, David MacFadyen, Professor and Chair at the Dept. of Slavic Languages & Literatures at the University of California, got into Pixelord's music and wrote this very interesting article about Alexey Devyanin's aliases. Here you'll find everything you ever wanted to know about the enigmatic lord from Moscow and the relation between his music and the outstanding art of Michael Dotson.
Definitely a good read!

Back on Pixelord, the man uploaded an exclusive self remix of Quartz Boy on Soundcloud. Enjoy the (free) vocoder madness! (update: too late!)

<![CDATA[Fake Skweee?]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Fake+Skweee%3F/id/63 Lucid Freaks remix album is coming strong in a week and today we feature Coco Bryce, one of the hottest producer who joined us for this mission.
Hailing from Breda, south Netherlands, Coco already appeared on Harmönia's compilations (Skweee anyone?) and had a smashing split with mighty Slugabed on MYOR label. His sound is just beyond boundaries, call it Skweee, Wonky...it's just frigging dope and deep as we like it.

Together with the Lowriders Collective we're glad to host one of the three remixes he made out of Pixelord's Quartz Boy...you won't hear this Fake Skweee Mix on the final remix album so you better grab it while it's hot.

<![CDATA[To sell and to purchase]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/To+sell+and+to+purchase/id/61

As some of you might have noticed, some things changed here @ EB since out last release. While all music is available for free as 192kbit MP3 download, lossless audio is on purchase via bandcamp now. This includes Pixelord, Shlohmo and the ABC beatape (including RBMA adept Swede:art), which is, for the first time, available in losless quality at all. We tried to keep the prices real fair (0.50€ / track).

For the future, there will be free releases and records we are giving away on purchase exclusively. Expect free music by KenLo Craqnuques and a pretty epic Pixelord remix EP very soon. Furthermore, 7" vinyl goodness is on the way, including German producers B-Ju and Comfort Fit, plus the long-delayed AEED vinyl single. The corresponding digital audio will NOT be free. We hope to bankroll the vinyl this way, and gain some extra for the artists. Peace!

<![CDATA[All eyes on them]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/All+eyes+on+them/id/50 EB cats are getting some serious attention by media from all around the world.

Last week AEED's Velvet night was played by mr. Gilles Peterson during his legendary show on BBC1. If you're not familiar with our swiss beat juggler you better look back into our catalogue and check out that sparkling gem called Synesthesia.

On the other side of the planet the XLR8R magazine featured our man Shlohmo and his super-dope remix for Robot Koch...you can download it for free!

The frenetic dubstep of Robot Koch gets the remix treatment from a mysterious young buck from Los Angeles. Taking the original from Koch's forthcoming album, Death Star Droid, Shlohmo slows its breakneck pace, creating a piece where the sampled Angolan vocal stems are still evident, but put to a dark, low-slung bass slice.

...get ready for Shlohmo's mini album scheduled on Friends of Friends, 2010...it's gonna be huge.

                                                                                                              by Alice Dufay

As you probably read on this pages, EB cat Swede:art will join RBMA 2010, but that's not the only news regarding the bwoy from Passau. He's been featured on 92bpm with an interview focused on the RBMA call and his smasher Wonkycarz has been played by crunk-house legends Crookers on their latest mix. Funny isn't it?

Two days ago he also released a massive mix for Nutriot with an interview where he announced his new album on Tokyo Dawn Records.

"I think you can expect some jazzy and electronical beat goodness together with my man Duktus from Soulbasta. It’s a collaborative LP, if you want, running under a new-fledged project-name featuring the finest sort of singers, producers and MCs, it’s gonna be great! Watch out for this one, it’ll be out in early 2010."

Whilst his earlier work was rooted in Ambient and Electronic music, this record presents his sound in the context of Instrumental Hip Hop, with strong elements of Electronic music still present. <![CDATA[Ichiro_ at Monday Jazz]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Ichiro_+at+Monday+Jazz/id/39

Ichiro_ - "Excuse me, I'm not a DJ"

Here's the liner notes:

Excuse me, I’m not a DJ with the modestly drawn down eyes apologizes this weeks hero Japanese producer Ichiro_ a.k.a. Nerima Experiment and as a compensation delivers a mix of his own creation.

Actually he might be apologizing in vain, because general flow of the compilation is fluent enough. Namesake of his countryman baseball whiz kid instead of bat uses beats to reach his goals. Despite the fact, that almost all weapons of the compilation are calibrated exclusively by the author himself, they are not all same sounding, though they have hardly describable connecting lead. Into one bunch are being thrown a bit tough strokes, melancholic levitation, Far Eastern spices, sounds leading to the dark side of the moon and sun lit fragments. Result of this collision – feeling that you are lost in the dark forest or crowded city (depending on listener’s geographical orientation).

<![CDATA[New music: Kauders & Portformat]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/New+music%3A+Kauders+%26+Portformat/id/33 Both albums are online for free download...

Kauders hooked up with Israeli Netlabel Bird Song and releases his long-planned new solo album "Brian Invited June". Experimental Guitar music, semi-electronic Avant-garde Pop... way hard to put a label on. Challenging and brilliant. Hit the artwork!

Portformat, friends with Comfort Fit and part of the Tokyo Dawn collective, deceided to put online a compilation of old favourites and classic tunes. Nice and mellow Hip Hop tunes, arranged with taste. Hit the artwork to download via sendspace...

<![CDATA[Homework presents "Lavori Domestici"]]> http://error-broadcast.com/index.php/news/show/title/Homework+presents+%5C%22Lavori+Domestici%5C%22/id/20

Here's the linernotes...

>>> After one year from the first “Lavori Domestici” unexpected success, both from the audience (12.000 downloads!) and from the critics (very positive reviews on The Wire, Rockerilla, Sentireascoltare, Musicaoltranza, Musicboom), the Italian Netlabel goes on purposing its roster’s best artists, previewing future releases, collaborations and friendships.

As in last year’s edition, Homework Records keeps far from concentrating on a specific genre or mood: Lavori Domestici 2 tries to create a trip through most of electronic music sides, winking both to people’s iPods and dancefloor addicted. <<<
