"In many senses it’s the hyper-detailed day-glo leftfield hiphop aesthetic forged by the likes of Rustie and Hudson Mohawke that B-Ju’s synth-heavy tracks most evoke."
"Think cut up helium vocals, ‘80s synth pads and swinging beats very reminiscent of the recent WARP LP’s by Rustie & Hudson Mohawke. A bag full of swag from this young German producer."
"B-Ju is a fresh artist making some forward-thinking music, but he pulls from the past a few rather difficult trades that raise his sound to the next level. ‘Prozac People’ is a monstrous release from Error Broadcast, anything but cursory if you’re really listening."
"Drippy neon-funk goodness"
"B-Ju sounds a lot like Hamburg’s answer to Obey City, combining instrumental hip hop with footwork rhythms and lush 80s synth lines."
"Airlock zipped shut, we enter the Footwork-boogie hyperspace of 'Mia Got A New Haircut', while 'Vector Love' bumps to a cyber-cowbell groove and 'Gobble Gobble' does the slowfast dip, Chi-town style, leaving the downstroked 'Seduction' hovering in between Workshop style slow House and crushed boogie."
"'Mia Got a New Haircut' kicks off the endeavor with a decade-spanning jaunt through synth-laden G-funk, juke-indebted drum programming, and a slowed-down assemblage of sounds culled from the depths of spacey house music."
"Prozac People is a synth heavy record straddling lines between hip hop and footwork, w/ double time riddim ridden up and down this release."
"B-Ju uses melody, texture, and arrangement in a slick funky way like we know from both RnB and Funky releases."
B-Ju is a young producer from Hamburg, Germany. If you are following Error Broadcast the name should be familiar with you – in 2010, our very first vinyl release was with him (Dog Day EP, check it out).
In 2012 B-Ju returns to Error Broadcast.
His Prozac People EP combines instrumental Hip Hop with Footwork percussion and lush 80s synth pads. B-Ju skilfully achieves to make both your head nod and feet move - and eventually appreciate his impeccable taste in melody, texture, and arrangement. The EP is complete with remixes by eLan (Monkey Town), 813 (Donky Pitch, RAD), and our own player Monolithium.
